Engineering Projects
Here, I have displayed a number of engineering focussed endeavors that I have either completed or am currently working on. These projects focus on part design, mostly in SolidWorks and other drafting methods (Manual Drafting, AutoCad, etc.), as well as assembly creation and academic papers.
Automated Aeroponics Garden
BSME Capstone Project
I developed an industry first consumer product to bring fresh produce into all dwellings, with high efficiency, less waste and faster plant growth, using aeroponic technology. I owned the climate control sub-system and worked hard on the development, planning, and presentation on all other sub-systems including plumbing, lighting, structure etc. I utilized OnShape, ANSYS, MATLAB, power/hand tools, etc. and project management software to execute on this capstone project.
FSAE Chassis Research and Development
Head Structural Engineer (FSAE)
Average Dart Velocity, Precision, Accuracy, BSME Term Paper
This was the final project of my measurements and analysis course, which focussed on strong measurement practices and precise data analysis. My group determined the average throw velocity, accuracy and precision of a Northeastern Student's darts throw. We used ANOVA analysis tests, t-tests, graphical comparisons and descriptive statistics to determine these values.
I led a team of 15 through a R&D, chassis research, design, and fabrication for the clubs first new chassis since its conception. Utilized SolidWorks (weldments, FEA, solid bodies, material science properties, etc.) and project management skills to achieve a 30% weight reduction and major new functionality. I managed a number of active team members and worked with upper management of electircal and mechanical teams to create a great car.
FPV Cinematography / Racing Drone R&D, Personal Project
I combined my hobbyist passion for film making, video editing and drones, with my UAV Prototyping/Mechanical Engineering position at the time research compact UAV's built for agility and precision flying with the goal of creating a cinematic beast of a vehicle.
As part of the Northeastern Electric Racing Club, specifically the pedal box project, I designed and am currently fabricating the mounting mechanism for the accelerator pedal.
Biomechanics Analysis: The Standard Bicep Curl, BSME Paper
For my summer course in Statics, I elected to write a paper on the forces exerted on the body/arm during a bicep curl. The math was mostly simple, and the movement was simplified, but it gave me a great excuse to turn away from pulleys, inclined planes and journal bearing analysis, and check out intro biomechanics subject matter.
Covid-19 PSA Rube Goldberg Machine, Cornerstone BSME Project
My group and I, created a complex Rube Goldberg machine that utilized 3D printing, laser cutting, 6x Arduino UNO's and countless mechanical and electrical stages to deliver COVID-19 PSA's to college students. Taught how to work on a team for an "employer", as we had project managers, formal presentations and client meetings weekly and extensive Gantt Charts.
